'Oddments' is Priscilla Ambrosini's first solo exhibition. This collection of artwork contains a variety of images and objects from both the real and imagined, based on the artists' personal curiosities.


Grimsby Public Art Gallery receives OAC Operating Grant

The Grimsby Public Art Gallery was recently awarded an Ontario Arts Council (OAC) operating grant of $27,500 to assist with programming and exhibitions in 2013. The Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Government of Ontario, provides support that is crucial to the well-being of the arts community in Ontario; last year the OAC funded 1,681 individual artists and 1,125 organizations in 216 communities across Ontario. A healthy arts community that provides access to visual art, music, theatre, dance, literature and much more for all Ontarians is essential to the well being of all citizens. The arts enhance the quality of life and stimulate creativity in all sectors. The Grimsby Public Art Gallery has been a regular recipient of funds through the Public Art Galleries Operating Grant program for many years. As well as being an important source of funding, this documents that our peers and colleagues recognize the quality of the activities offered at our gallery.

Exhibition Assistance Grant Deadline

Exhibition Assistance Grant

Next Deadline: October 31, 2012

Please note that we have three deadlines for Exhibition Assistance grant applications annually.


Applications for exhibition assistance grants are now being accepted.  Applying artists must have an exhibition scheduled and confirmed in a publicly accessible venue. Grants can assist with exhibition costs, including materials, framing, presentation and shipping.

All applications must include 10 slides or jpegs (compatible with PC), resume, budget, a letter of confirmation for upcoming exhibition, an artist’s statement and description of the exhibition, as well as a SASE with sufficient postage for return of all submitted material.  All support material will be returned following the recommender’s decision. Grants amounts range between $500 - $1500 and are now handed out three times a year (deadlines for the GPAG: January 31, July 31, & October 31 of each year)

Our current exhibition All In All features works by artists Jaime Angelopoulous and Derrick Piens. We would like to thank all who attended and enjoyed the opening reception this weekend where both artists were in attendance.

ALL IN ALL Jaime Angelopoulous & Derrick Piens

Derrick Piens and Jaime Angelopolous are creators of dynamic and evocative abstract forms. These are sculptures that reference a variety of familiar objects and by doing so explore a wide range of viewer response and interaction. Familiar materials used in unusual combinations and exciting contrasts of texture and colour are brought together in these objects in ways that encourage the viewer to laugh out loud while simultaneously pondering the inexplicable. The interaction of the sculpture, the space and the viewer is important to each artist. In her artist statement Angelopolous says: …I am interested in exploring aspects of bodily experience including perception, sensation, physicality and …the immaterial emotional self.
